Porto Recanati seafaring tradition

The central strip of the coast is characterized by beaches basically stony but also the sandy and steep sea. The area is completely flat and is located near Monte Conero. This makes it very suitable for walks along the promenade. The seafaring tradition of Porto Recanati is well documented in the Sea Museum, which is located in the complex of the former fish market. The town offers some important testimonies of its past. In the main square stands the medieval Swabian Castle, donated by Frederick II to the city, which houses on the first floor the Municipal Art Gallery "Attilio Moroni". The large courtyard is home to the arena B. Gigli, "named after the famous tenor recanatese who, during the summer season becomes the stage of a large series of musical events.
