Things to do in Italy?

Bienno is a charming village located in the Lombardy region of Italy. It is known for its medieval architecture, picturesque streets, and lively local culture. To make the most of your visit, I recommend spending at least two days exploring the village and its surroundings.

Day 1:

- Start your day by exploring the historic center of Bienno. Take a stroll through the narrow streets lined with stone houses and admire the well-preserved medieval architecture.

- Visit the Church of San Defendente, a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture. Inside, you'll find stunning frescoes that date back to the 15th century.

- Explore the Museo degli Antichi Mestieri (Museum of Ancient Crafts), which showcases traditional crafts and trades practiced in the area throughout history.

- Enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the local trattorias, where you can savor traditional Lombard cuisine. Don't miss out on trying local specialties like pizzoccheri (buckwheat pasta) or casoncelli (stuffed pasta).

- In the afternoon, take a walk along the river that runs through the village. Admire the watermills and charming bridges that add to the village's picturesque atmosphere.

- Visit the Casa degli Artisti, a gallery that exhibits the works of local artists and hosts temporary exhibitions.

- In the evening, indulge in a wine tasting experience at a local winery. Lombardy is known for its excellent wines, such as Franciacorta and Valtellina.

Day 2:

- Start the day by visiting the nearby village of Cerveno, located just a short distance from Bienno. Explore the historic center and visit the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Misericordia, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

- Take a scenic drive to Lake Iseo, located about 30 kilometers from Bienno. Enjoy the beautiful lake views and visit the charming town of Pisogne, known for its colorful houses and lakeside promenade.

- Have lunch at a lakeside restaurant, where you can taste fresh fish from the lake, such as lavarello or persico.

- After lunch, visit the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve, located on the southern shore of Lake Iseo. Take a walk along the wooden boardwalks and observe the diverse birdlife and unique flora of the wetland area.

- Return to Bienno in the evening and spend your last night enjoying a delicious dinner at a local osteria, where you can try regional dishes like polenta taragna or braised beef with local mushrooms.

Getting to Bienno:

- The nearest airport to Bienno is Bergamo Orio al Serio International Airport (BGY), which is approximately a one-hour drive away. From the airport, you can rent a car or take a taxi to reach Bienno.

- If you prefer public transportation, you can take a train from Bergamo to the town of Brescia, and then take a bus to Bienno. The journey takes approximately two hours in total.

Where to stay in Bienno:

- Bienno offers a range of accommodation options, including hotels, bed and breakfasts, and vacation rentals. Some popular options include Albergo Ristorante La Pieve, Hotel Antico Borgo, and B&B La Casa del Pittore. Make sure to book your accommodation in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Remember to check the latest travel advisories and guidelines before your trip, as they may vary. Enjoy your visit to Bienno and savor the unique charms of this beautiful village!
