Day 3: Explore the Costa Rei
Drive north along the coast to the stunning Costa Rei, known for its crystal-clear waters and white sand beaches. Spend the day exploring the area's many beaches, such as Cala Pira or Cala Sinzias. In the evening, enjoy a glass of Cannonau wine, a red wine from Sardinia that pairs perfectly with local meats and cheeses.
Day 4: Visit the Nuraghe di Barumini
Take a break from the beach and drive inland to visit the Nuraghe di Barumini, a UNESCO World Heritage site that features the ruins of an ancient nuragic village. After the visit, stop at a local winery to taste some of the region's Vermentino or Vernaccia di Oristano white wines.
Day 5: Drive to Alghero
Drive north to the charming town of Alghero, located on the island's northwest coast. Check into your hotel and spend the day exploring the town's historic center, including the Catalan Gothic-style cathedral and the ancient walls that surround the city. In the evening, dine at a local restaurant that specializes in seafood, such as spaghetti with bottarga (cured fish roe) or fregola with clams.
Day 6: Visit the Asinara National Park
Take a boat tour to the Asinara National Park, a beautiful island located off the coast of Alghero. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including wild horses and the rare albino donkey.
