CHURCH OF SAN BASSO

Photo from Borgo Marano by @giuseppebaldassarri CHURCH OF SAN BASSO - CUPRA MARITTIMA BACK TO THE ITINERARY FERMANO AND PICENO. THE ART OF THE CRIVELLI BROTHERS . According to tradition, the first parish church dedicated to the holy martyr and bishop of Nice, moved to these lands at the beginning of the sixth century, was erected in the ninth century in the Civita area: here the tomb of the saint was kept, then transferred to the Mother Church of Marano, then in the new church of San Basso until 1876. The current church, completed in 1887, houses a precious triptych by Vittore Crivelli, depicting the adoring Madonna between San Basso and San Sebastiano. The cult of San Basso is deeply felt by the fishermen of the Adriatic coast.
