Cupra Marittima is a splendid town in the Marche region on the Riviera delle Palme.
Cupra Marittima whose medieval village is characterized by an elongated shape nestled on a promontory overlooking the modern town, guarantees a peaceful environment due to the presence of the green pine forest, sandy beaches and shallow waters and makes it ideal for family tourism.
Top tourist attractions;
1 Archaeological Museum of the Territory - The museum is divided into three sections. There is the prehistoric one that from Piceno which testify to the presence of humans from the Palaeolithic age up to the Bronze Age. As regards the staging, a remarkable scientific project has been prepared that perfectly describes a civilization, the Cuprenses, in all its aspects "the funeral rituals, the housing models, the typical customs and the local custom, the specific craft productions, in substance through the characteristics of a well-defined cultural identity . A last section, the Roman one, testifies instead to the institution of the municipality of Cupra Marittima which took place in 50 BC. approximately, from that moment on, the city became a place of flourishing commercial activities.
2 Castle S. Andrea - Definitely worth seeing are the remains of the Castle, recently restored and transformed into an open-air theater. His story that dates back to before 1200 when he was mentioned by an order from the Duke of Spoleto Rinaldo who issued a decree with the order to destroy some castles listed by him, is very curious. Its strategic position overlooking the sea (a position that also suffered the effect of being destroyed by landslides) was used to sight the Saracens, also allowing to warn the neighboring castles.
3 Villa Vinci-Boccabianca - It dates back to 1838 and was subsequently restored over the years. Huge spaces, its magnificence and its Renaissance character rise amid a large expanse of vineyards and olive groves. It is certainly one of the perfect locations to get married.
4 Church of San Basso - The church, of ancient origin, houses an important painting by Vittore Crivelli, the Madonna adoring between San Basso and San Sebastiano. The remains of San Basso, bishop of Nice and protector of fishermen, were moved to Cupra Marittima in the early sixth century AD. The cult for the patron saint is strongly felt by all the sailors of Cupra Marittima and those of the entire Adriatic coast.
5 Church of Santa Maria in Castello - This church represents one of the most beautiful examples of Romanesque in the Marche. It is located in the medieval village of Marano. Do you think that the first certified record of the existence of the church was written in 1227. In 1948 a major restoration was carried out which would bring significant internal and external improvements (one of all the architrave of the portal). Inside you will find beautiful frescoes depicting the Virgin and Child, Saint Lucia and Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Beautiful are the polylobed arches which are supported by small terracotta columns in a typically Arab style.
6 Malacological Museum - The museum was born in 1977 from a huge collection of Titian and Vincenzo Cossignani. It is considered the largest exhibition of shells in the world. The Malacological Museum has an area of 3,000 square meters and 900,000 specimens are exhibited, which are only a part of the 9 million preserved in the study rooms. The feeling is that of having all the sea concentrated in a room.

Description Borgo Marano The hill of Marano is the historical core located in the upper part of Cupra Marittima. Marano is a fortified village in the Marche region, the medieval nucleus of Cupra Marittima. Municipal statutes were issued as early as 1076 and, in the late medieval age, it was involved in the struggles between Ascoli and Fermo for control of the territory. In the 16th century it was sacked by the Turks and in 1861 it was annexed to the nascent Kingdom of Italy. It currently forms part of the capital and is also known as Cupra Alta (or generally the high town of Cupra); however, that of Marano was the official name of the municipality until 1863. .
