Villa Bonaparte Porto San Giorgio
Villa Bonaparte Porto San Giorgio, Via Girolamo Bonaparte, 63822 Porto San Giorgio FM, Italy. The villa, now Villa Pelagallo, was built in the early 19th century by the architect Ireneo Aleandri. It was commissioned by Girolamo Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon and ex-Westphalia king of exile, who stayed in Porto San Giorgio between 1829 and 1832.The villa, with a vast estate that reached the sea, is in pure neoclassical style and is adorned with bas-reliefs with weapon trophies.
It is also known as Villa Caterina, named after Bonaparte's wife, Catherine of Württemberg who called Porto San Giorgio a true, earthly paradise. The villa was confiscated in 1831 due to political differences with the neighboring King of Naples, and sold shortly afterwards to the noble Pelagallo family whose name it bears today.
