Torre Merlata, 63822 Porto San Giorgio, Province of Fermo, Italy. Upstream from Porto San Giorgio is the "Torre Merlata" the Castello district, surrounded by recently restored walls, with three crenelated towers and an illuminated walkway and the Rocca Tiepolo, which takes its name from the Governor of Fermo Lorenzo Tiepolo, who made it build in 1276 to defend against Saracen pirates. The Ghibelline battlements have a "swallowtail" top.
