Civitanova Marche is a popular seaside resort on the Adriatic coast. The long beach is divided by the fishing port and the tourist port. To the north, the beach is broad and sandy and the water is shallow; the south coast, on the other hand, has a mixed beach of sand and gravel and deeper waters. On the coast there is already on the coast a stretch of cycle path of the Adriatic Ciclovia, which once completed will connect all the places on the Adriatic coast: in Civitanova Marche they are currently limited to the two waterfronts. Another route climbs from the Lido to Civitanova Alta along the Maranello river, while at the end of the southern promenade another stretch connects along the northern bank of the Chienti river, joining the Chienti River Park path. Two centers can be distinguished: the Città Alta, an ancient village built on a hill enclosed within the walls of a medieval castle, and the coastal town. Civitanova Alta houses the historic Annibal Caro theater, the Moretti Municipal Art Gallery, the former Sant’Agostino Church, the Art Nouveau Tram Station, the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions and the Trotto Historical Museum, outside the town. The imposing Cesarini Sforza Palace rises in Civitanova Marche. Characteristic are the Public Gardens, the Art Nouveau Lido Cluana buildings, and the fish market. The northern area is characterized by the tree-lined Vittorio Veneto Avenue, where the former Casa dei Balilla is located, today the seat of the Municipal Library and of the Cinema Theater E. Cecchetti. In the area, there are numerous outlets of prestigious Made in Italy brands, especially in the footwear sector. Sports facilities are also widespread for the practice of various sports, including golf, sailing and horse riding.
