Sestière di Santa Croce, Veneto, Italy. Ponte degli Scalzi, 30100 Venezia VE, Italy. By now the short trip has come to an end, I am about to arrive at the train station, I take this photo from the Ponte degli Scalzi, a very large and tall bridge, a particular bridge with a single arch entirely in Istrian stone. The Ponte degli Scalzi is, together with the Rialto Bridge, the Accademia Bridge, and the Ponte della Costituzione, one of the four bridges that cross the Grand Canal in Venice. The bridge takes its name from the nearby church of Santa Maria di Nazareth, better known as the Scalzi church, which belonged to the Discalced Carmelite order. The work is called the station or railway bridge due to the proximity of the Venice Santa Lucia railway station.
